Cancellation Policies
I understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In my desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policy will be honored and I feel that it will be a benefit to both parties.
Appointment Cancellation Policy
24-hour cancellation notice is required. Once you have reserved your appointment with us it means that space is exclusively for you. If I do not receive 24-hour notice, I reserve the right to request a 50% deposit to hold your spot for your next appointment. If you do not show or call I reserve the right to charge the full amount of the service booked. We understand that emergencies happen , so please call if you need to cancel or reschedule at (207) 669-4484.
Cancellation is expected within 24 hours. Before 24 hours, there is no fee for your cancellation. If you cancel within 24 hours, I reserve the right to charge a 50% cancellation fee. If cancel within two hours or your appointment or you do not show for your appointment, I reserve the right to charge the full amount. These fees will be expected before your next appointment can be made.
I understand that life can get busy and illnesses happen as well as emergencies , so please call if you need to cancel or reschedule at (207) 669-4484. Please understand that if you do not show or cancel your appointment before 24 hours, the prospect of me filling that appointment is unlikely, which means I do not get paid for that slot. Please be respectful of my time as I will be of yours.
Inclement Weather Policy
Of course, especially in Maine, we deal with inclement weather. I will make the call the day of a storm if I feel that it is safe for you or myself to be on the roads. If I decide not to open, I will reschedule you for the next available slot. If I open, but you do not feel safe driving, The 24-hour policy does not apply. Just call the office and we will reschedule you!
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late, your session may be shortened. You will be charged the full amount of the scheduled session. Please be aware that I may have other scheduling conflicts that will shorten your massage. Please be respectful of my time as I am yours.
Therapist Training & Experience / Limitations of Massage Therapy
I am a Maine state licensed massage therapist with over 2 years experience and over 100 hours and additional training. I have also passed the state licensing examination, MBLeX.
Massage therapists do not diagnose medical diseases or musculoskeletal conditions. Massage therapy is not a substitute for medical examination and or treatment. Massage therapists do not prescribe herbs or drugs, including aspirin or ibuprofen, or medical treatments. They do not perform spinal adjustments and they cannot counsel clients about emotional or spiritual issues as would be provided by a mental health professional or spiritual leader. If you experience symptoms that lead you to believe you may have a medical condition, it is recommended that you visit a physician for diagnosis and treatment.
Expectations & Rights
The client is expected to demonstrate good hygiene and not use illegal drugs or alcohol before the session (the use of drugs and alcohol make it unsafe for a client to receive massage). Clients and therapists are expected to refrain from any behavior of a sexual nature, including sexual jokes, nicknames, or immodest conduct. Sexual behavior from the therapist toward a client is grounds for therapist termination and may lead to a formal complaint filed with the state board of massage. This may lead to the loss of the therapist’s license. Sexual behavior from the client toward the therapist is inappropriate and will lead to the termination of the session and refusal of further service.
The client has a right to prompt, professional service in an environment that is clean, private, and safe. Client information is not shared with any members of the public or other health-care providers unless the client releases the information in writing. A court of law may order the client’s health-care records released to the court as part of a legal proceeding. Therapists are obligated to report information about the abuse of a child, elderly person, or mentally or physically challenged person in the event that such information is related during the session. Therapists are obligated to report threats of self-harm, or threats that the client plans to harm another person, to authorities.
